Itulinks Copyright, Trademark & Takedown Policy

Last updated: 29 October 2026

Itulinks hosts artist pages and release links. We don't host music: release pages link out to streaming services. We do host photos, cover art and text that users upload.

We respond to notices under the Copyright Act 2022 (Nigeria), sections 54–56 and 58–59. We handle trademark and impersonation complaints the same way.

1. Report infringement or impersonation

Email copyright@itulinks.com with the subject "Takedown notice". Include:

  1. Your full name, address, phone and email, and who you represent if you act for someone else.
  2. The work or mark you own (for example a photo, artwork, recording, or a registered trademark with its number).
  3. The exact itul.ink or itulinks.com links where the material appears.
  4. For impersonation: proof that you are the artist or their authorised representative, such as a message from the artist's verified Instagram or an email from their official domain.
  5. A statement that you believe in good faith that the use isn't authorised by the owner, their agent or the law.
  6. A statement that the information in your notice is accurate, and that you are the owner or authorised to act for them.
  7. Your physical or electronic signature (typing your full name is enough).

Incomplete notices may be delayed while we ask for the missing details.

2. What we do

  • Within 1–7 business days of a complete notice we review it and, where it's valid, remove or disable access to the material.
  • We tell the account holder and give them a copy of the notice, with your personal contact details removed unless the law requires otherwise.
  • Clear cases of impersonation or fraud are suspended as soon as we see them, often the same day.

3. Counter-notice

If your content was removed and you believe that was a mistake, or that you have the right to use it, reply to our email with:

  1. your name and contact details;
  2. the material removed and where it appeared;
  3. a statement, in good faith, explaining why the removal was a mistake or why you have the right to use it;
  4. your consent to us sharing the counter-notice with the person who complained;
  5. your signature.

We forward the counter-notice to the complainant. If they don't tell us within one week that they have started proceedings or a complaint to the Nigerian Copyright Commission, we may restore the material (Copyright Act 2022, s.55(4)).

4. Repeat infringers

We suspend accounts that receive repeated valid notices (Copyright Act 2022, s.56). As a guide, that's three valid notices within 12 months. We may act sooner for serious cases.

5. Name and handle disputes

See section 3 of the Terms of Service:

  1. A registered trademark or court order wins.
  2. A verified artist wins over an unverified account.
  3. Otherwise, first come, first served.

Reserved names, such as well-known artists and brands, can be claimed only after verification.

6. Music on streaming services

If the problem is the song itself on Spotify, Apple Music, Audiomack, Boomplay or another service, also contact that service. Removing a link on Itulinks doesn't remove a track from a platform.

7. Misuse of this process

Knowingly false notices can expose the sender to legal liability. We may ignore notices that are clearly abusive.

8. US notices

We don't currently have a designated agent registered under the US DMCA (17 U.S.C. §512(c)(2)). US rights holders can still use this process and we will act on valid notices.
